The nut might need some notch tweaking, or worst case, a new nut. I honestly think it could easily be converted to a low "B" setup. I was attracted to it, as a guitarist, for the soloing aspect of the range up high. This came to be before the multi-string (6, 7) basses started showing up, and back when 5's pretty much all had low B's. So, this is likely the only Gibson Thunderbird "high C" 5-string on the planet, actually crafted from a 70's 4-string Thunderbird bass! And yes, please note: the 5'th string is currently a high "C", not a low "B". Gibson did not offer the Thunderbird in a 5-string configuration, although there was "Studio 5" for a couple years in the mid 2000's, and the newer Epi "Pro-V". I've owned it for at least 20 years now and bought it from the player who had the whim to get this done. What an amazingly-unique instrument, crafted from a vintage 70's Thunderbird Bass (REVERSE body style), this was modded 20+ years ago to make it a 5-string flametop! I'm serious.

Amplification sent overseas is not returnable under any circumstaces unless damaged upon arrival. ALL dealers will be charged restocking fee on returns for any reason due the the common practice of reselling. The restocking fees will be waived if the instrument is damaged. Modelled directly from the 1963 Thunderbird. Rosewood fretboard, laminated pickguard, 2 humbucking pickups, 34 3-8 inch scale length. One piece Mahogany centrepiece Mahogany wings. No headstock break or repair!! This is the finest and cleanest Gibson Thunderbird I've seen with only one ding to the body (front of lower bout on the edge directly in line with the E string!) All original and complete other than the added strap button ( 1 original button remains in its original position 1 strap lock button in a second position at the neck and another at the butt end) Through neck construction with reverse body shape. According to the production records online only 91 Black Thunderbirds were made in 1976! This bass comes with the original case and metal covers( also in excellent condition with no issues) Also included are the Gibson certificate given to the original dealer which was Maynards Music, Albuquerque, Oct 18 1977, the original owners receipts guitar lead. Original Black finish with very few marks.
